BIG SUR MARATHON (4/24/2005)
Three (3!) of my aunties ran in the Big Sur Marathon this year. Chris and I went down to Monterey to cheer them in, along with my grammyCute!

My grammy and my aunt Jane, looking very happy.
Good Girls

I secretly believe that among all my aunts I am most like my aunt Chrissie. I'm not sure why this is, but our twin hand gestures confirm it for me.
Happiness

Being with my family makes me so excited, which isn't so strange, probably, but I think it makes Chris pretty happy too, which is really wonderful.

Pergie

My grammy (my mom's mom). She and my grandfather honeymooned in Moneterey in 1956. They drove up from Whittier and stopped in San Louis Obispo and then spent the rest of the time in Monterey, which she hadn't been back to since.
Pre-Race Meal

The big dinner the night before. From left to right: me, my aunt Chrissie (a marathoner!), my aunt Jenny (a marathoner!), my grandmother (a supporter of marathoners), my aunt Jane (a marathoner!), and Chris (a rockathoner)
Sisters

I got a little camera happy. But aren't they cute? My people!
The Evening Wears On

Since the marathoners had to go to bed early the night before, Chris and I were left to find our own fun, which in this case meant buying a six pack and retiring to the hotel room to watch When Harry Met Sally and drink ourselves sleepy.
The Finish (of the Camera)

I was so overeager with the picture-taking that the camera's battery died right before the marathoners finished, which means that this picture of Chris and my grandmother arriving is the last one I got. Ironically, I did the same thing again a few weeks later when Chris and I were on our way to run Bay to Breakers. I am retarded.
Vamp

Jen very obligingly poses. Chrissie very unobligingly ignores me.
